Earthbound Moon is a non-contiguous sculpture garden, discrete parcels of land spaced across the face of the Earth, each parcel the home to a publicly accessible sculpture. Each artwork is site specific -- imagined, built and installed by an artist engaged with the site and the community's experience of the work. The design, management and artwork installed are done so in conjunction with the local community surrounding each site.
We're in Texas (Lubbock and Bledsoe) for the first three weeks of September! Four members of EbM will be assisting Heidi Hove (Denmark) and Benoit Couret (France) install Heidi's solar-powered, LED-lit, sixteen foot high WELCOME sign in the Texas desert outside Bledsoe. You can hear Heidi speak about the work on September 16 at Texas Tech University (TTU) in Lubbock. EbM will also be speaking a little about our work.
Also at TTU is the EbM installation Earthbound Moon, Terraforming NOW! in the downstairs gallery of the arts building. This installation is up September 7th to 21st.
Heidi Hove | Bledsoe, Texas
Our first site is outside the town of Bledsoe, Texas. Bledsoe is a dust bowl community that has seen its population fall from a peak of 400+ in the 1920s to ~70 today. Our site is part of a proposed acre lot intended to serve as an artist residency and get-away.
For 2011 & 2012, Earthbound Moon is negotiating sites encircling the globe, including:
